KNA CERT TRAINS 5S FOR TYM - MICROFINANCE INSTITUTION LIMITED LIABILITY COMPANY TYM CHARITY

TYM Charity Limited Liability Company is the first official microfinance institution in Vietnam, established by the Vietnam Women's Union in 1992. To date, TYM has provided support to over 385,000 women, poor households, and low-income families in rural and suburban areas of Vietnam through financial and social services.

TYM's mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals and low-income households, with a special focus on supporting poor and vulnerable women. This is achieved through both financial and non-financial services, creating opportunities for women to participate in economic and social activities, thereby contributing to enhancing the status of women. Currently, TYM is one of the largest microfinance institutions in Vietnam, with over 593 employees working at the headquarters and 21 branches in 13 provinces and cities in the Northern and Central Northern regions of Vietnam. Among them, 314 technical staff (credit officers) directly engage with members/customers on a daily basis at 4,971 service points.

From an initial project established by the Vietnam Women's Union under the name 'Tinh Thương Fund,' TYM has demonstrated the effectiveness of its operations and obtained approval from the State Bank of Vietnam to become an officially recognized microfinance institution in 2010.

In recent years, TYM has established itself as a sustainable, secure, and effective microfinance model, actively contributing to the implementation of the political tasks of the Vietnam Women's Union. It has reaffirmed the role of microfinance in the comprehensive national financial strategy and sustainable poverty reduction. From a project funded with 200 million VND in 1992, TYM's total assets have now reached nearly 2.8 trillion VND, ready to provide credit to women through multiple funding cycles. Consequently, TYM has contributed to enhancing the capacity and status of women while strengthening social security in areas where TYM operates. In 2022, TYM was voted as one of the top 10 microfinance institutions globally honored within the framework of the European Microfinance Award 2022, themed 'Comprehensive Finance for Women' (EMA 2022).
